Landform Consultants designer, Rhiannon Williams has struck gold with her Landform Garden Bar at RHS Hampton Court Flower Show.
Rhiannon, who was awarded a Silver-Gilt and People’s Choice for her Urban Rain Garden at last year’s show, is delighted to take home the top medal.
Designed with a couple in mind, her garden offers a refreshing take on outdoor entertaining and dining. It embraces a contemporary summer al fresco lifestyle and brings the inside out, using the garden as an extension of the home.
The Landform Garden Bar has a deep personal significance, as it was designed in collaboration with her late partner and Landform Consultants foreman, Matthew Bradley who tragically lost his life in November 2017.
Rhiannon submitted the application on the day Matthew died and has ensured his vision has remained at the heart of making their plans a reality.
She said: “This gold medal means so much to me. When we left Hampton Court Flower Show with a Silver-Gilt last year, Matthew and I promised each other we’d go for gold this year. So this isn’t just a gold for me, it’s for his memory too.
“Putting together this garden has been a deeply emotional journey. When Matthew and I put together our vision for a serene oasis in the middle of the hustle and bustle of urban living we were picturing a future space for our life together as a couple.
“I’m so proud of what I’ve achieved with this garden and if Matthew’s looking down on us today I hope he’s proud too.”
The space offers a calming place to reflect and take time out from busy lifestyles. Inspiration has been drawn from the gardens of Hotel Alma in Barcelona, that the couple hoped to visit, and the design includes a bar/food preparation area and a less formal seating area beside a fire pit.
Gentle planting surrounds the seating area creating a cosy feel with soft and delicate green and white tones with added pops of dynamic orange.
